The Upper and Lower Mounts of Mars in Palmistry

May 28, 2011
In palm reading, the whole of the central area in our palms are associated with the planet of Mars. It is then subdivided into the plain of Mars, upper Mars and lower Mars. These mounts represent the energies of aggression and courage. In Greek mythology, Mars is known as god of wars. Those who have well developed mount of Mars are fearless, courageous and healthy, they do not fall ill so easily.

Upper Mount of Mars
Upper Mars is located at the percussion edge of the palms and this area relates to your fighting ability and reactions such as anger and belligerence. If the area of the upper Mars is high and thick, then it is hard to shock the person. He may fight with his words or even with his fists and he/she will not put up with anything that he doesnt like.
A well developed mount of upper Mars means that the person is somewhat confrontational. This person may choose to work in the armed forces, the fire or the police department or as an emergency medic. These people enjoy being where the action is.
An overdeveloped mount of upper Mars is considered not good as it reflects bad temperament. The person tend to use physical forces to get what he wants. He may also be unreliable because what he wants is extremely important and he doesnt much care how he gets it.
When this area is flat or absent, then the person dislikes confrontation and often look for ways to escape stressful situations. It is also a sign of an inability to express true feelings. When found on a flexible and soft hand then the person is easily pushed around, he also has difficulty standing up for his right. If he always tucks his thumb into his fingers then the person is also very nervous and unsure about himself.

Lower Mount of Mars
The lower mount of Mars is located between our index finger and the thumb. It is usually higher on the palm than the upper Mars. Those who have a prominent, large or ‘full’ lower mount of Mars can be counted to do his duty. It signifies a person’s enthusiasm and aggression.
An overly developed lower mount of Mars shows of a person who is quick tempered, egotistical, argumentative and over indulgent. But when it is flat, absent, or under developed then it indicates a lack of self esteem and getting motivated is difficult. It is also telling that the person is quiet, passive and introverted who rarely gets angry with others.
